Mary Wilson receives UNESCO award

We offer hearty congratulations to our National Patron, Mary Wilson, who has received a UNESCO award for Services to Literature in South Australia. Mary was presented with the award earlier this month at Government House.

Mary's late husband, the Hon. Ian Wilson AM, co-founded the May Gibbs Children's Literature Trust in 1999. Mary has been a key member of the SA Support Group since its inception at that time. As well as her role within the MGCLT, Mary is a Life Member of the Delta Educational and Cultural Foundation. She has also championed literature through establishing book discussion groups for adults for more than 50 years. Furthermore, Mary was Chair of The Barbara Hanrahan Memorial Exhibition at the State Library of SA for the Centenary of Women's Suffrage. She has tirelessly given her time and energy and we are thrilled to see her receive such thoroughly deserved recognition.
