The end of a wonderful era

Early May saw the retirement from the board of three well respected and extremely experienced colleagues - Elizabeth Hutchins, Nan Halliday and Elizabeth Ho.

Elizabeth Hutchins gave 16 years of service to the Trust. She was a director and Chair of the selection committee, enabling the Trust to achieve its objectives by leading the committee of volunteers who consider applications and select fellows.  As a colleague and a peer, Elizabeth supported all of the fellows in residence in Adelaide. She contributed graciously and expertly. She was also involved as an artist, working on the Trust's 2015 community education partnership, Story Garden.

Nan was the Trust's first National Program Coordinator, working in this role until 2011.  She liaised with the fellows, seeing to the logistics of their fellowships and organising their work with schools, universities and libraries in several host cities across Australia. As a director, Nan contributed her practical experience of the workings of the fellowships and her significant industry knowledge of children's and young adult publishing to the work of the Trust.

Elizabeth Ho joined the board in mid-2013 and applied her skills and a great deal of her time and energy to furthering the interests of the Trust during a period of major change.  She contributed fresh ideas in a considered and clear way and was the chief organiser of the two very successful major fund-raising events in 2014 and 2015 for the Ian Wilson Memorial Fellowship Fund.

Elizabeth, Nan and Elizabeth - thank you so much and all the very best!
