Marianne Musgrove heads to Brisbane

Award-winning South Australian children’s author and poet, Marianne Musgrove, is our first fellow for 2016.

Marianne will enjoy creative time in Brisbane, developing her historical novel, Blackbird. Set in the 1860s Blackbird follows the story of a twelve-year old South Sea Islander boy, who is kidnapped and taken to Australia to work as an indentured labourer in the sugar cane fields of Queensland.

Marianne is a descendant of King Henry VIII’s librarian, so you could say books are in her blood!
