Congratulations to Alan Tucker, whose 2014 Brisbane-based fellowship supported the development of a new title, which will be launched early next year.
1916: The Western Front, Scholastic Press Australia, February 2016, is the story of Sydney Childers, a young mallee farmer who joins the 1st AIF as a member of the veterinary corps. His section cares for and rehabilitates horses and mules serving in northern France and southern Belgium. Syd's section serves behind the lines during the bloody battles for Fromelles, Pozieres and the Somme: battles in which many thousands of young Australians - and their horses - died or were badly wounded. The terrible events take their toll on young Sydney and his friends.
